Biography

Your Liberal candidate for Mississauga Centre, Omar Alghabra has been advocating for Mississauga for more than 15 years. Omar was first elected as a Member of Parliament in 2006 and again in 2015 and 2019. He has been fortunate to serve as Minister of Transport, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, as well as to the Ministers of Foreign Affairs (Consular Affairs) and International Trade Diversification.

Canada and our community in Mississauga Centre has navigated one of the worst public health and economic crises seen in a century. Our Liberal government has made great strides by improving childcare, public transit, reducing our impact on the climate, and creating opportunities by investing in our community and its residents.

Throughout this pandemic, Canadians have all faced many challenges and relied on frontline workers, from nurses and doctors to essential service workers who kept our grocery stores open and our economy functioning.

Throughout it all, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Liberal government has ensured that those who needed help the most received the support that could get them through to the other side of this pandemic.

There’s still more work to do, and to get there we need a Liberal government that puts Canadians first and keeps our country safe. This election, Omar Alghabra is running to build a better future, and ensure we can continue to build up Mississauga Centre and create a stronger, fairer society.

Canadians deserve an ambitious plan to keep us safe and healthy, create jobs and protect the environment. The Liberal government has delivered and will continue to deliver, and Omar remains committed to being a strong voice in Ottawa for you and your family.
